Not One Nor presents two works made of discrete events foregrounding the materiality of a large string instrument in its role as a resonating chamber. Both pieces are constructed out of a limited number of gestures and/or pitches and points on the instrumentâs geography with the intention of producing an immersion in sound as material, interspersed with contrasting pauses. Not One Nor for prepared double bass calls for shifting variations in timbre through the use of three gestures...

Augmented Landscapes is a collaborative work melding acoustic and electronic sound elements with field recordings.  The acoustic element is provided by double bass and prepared double bass, played along a continuum of conventional and extended techniques. The electronic element, which consists in the granular synthesis of acoustic double bass performances, broadens the instrument’s sound palette to encompass varied and unconventional colorations.  When these elements are matched to the...

Tube Alloys is a project by Zan Hoffman (zh27.org) and Jeff Surak that combines, smelts, and delivers a new work derived from the best parts of some very good demos. Original material...

4 pieces created using broken cymbals, steel strings across wood, cassette field recordings made by my friend Beata Siemaszko in Italy, and Audiomulch software. The melange of home-made instruments were digitally recorded live using contact mics. Strings were plucked and bowed and cymbals were struck with brushes. Salarymen is the electro-acoustic duo of Jeff Surak and Gary Rouzer. On lunch breaks in downtown Washington, D.C., they set up at traffic circles and monuments for spontaneous performances of sound art, mixing small objects with the noises of the city to make a different kind of urban music. Recorded outdoors during lunch breaks in various traffic circles and street corners of Washington DC throughout 2013. Gary Rouzer - objects, tapes, etc. Jeff Surak - objects, tapes, etc.

The final installment in the Mystery Hearsay trilogy for zeromoon, is a work that borders on dark ambient, but with none of the cliches or meandering exercises. Assembled by MC Ladno.

Chester Hawkins: Synths, sequencers, rhythm machines, oscillators, califone, autoharp, stylophone, appropriations, edit, mix.  To all who have given their time and ears since 1985, it’s been a wild ride. This album is a live, unedited recording of an improvised session at the Deep Listening Institute in Kingston, NY on September 21, 2011. For this duo project, the musicians utilize acoustic materials and capture/transform one another's sound in an endless loop. Both use digital means; Van Nort tends to favor sculpting/stretching from small sound fragments, while Margolis often likes to make collages out of larger sound segments.

Gameboydrice is a project of Eugene Voronovsky, also known for his work as Cisfinitum. "Selden" is the soundtrack for a film of the same name, which is based on the Hound of Baskervilles by Conan Doyle. The music has roots in old silent film scores, yet with some modern experimental twists. Exotica, plunderphonics, and sense of the absurd prevail throughout. http://www.myspace.com/cisfinitum
