Pollux, taking a break from ruling independent music with his Sirona label, brings us a monolithic work of dark ambience. Over an hour of haunting pitch black drone that slowly undulates and unfolds. Lower, blown-out tones dominate in the foreground while creepy high notes bubble up from below in strange alien chords, like a calliope echoing from another dimension. It's interesting that Tokyo served as the inspiration, as schoolchildren there will most likely burn through ten fads over the course of these 85 minutes, but this evokes a different Tokyo, one beneath the hustle, like Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere brought out a strange, darker London.
